What can I say, I love toys.
From the time I was a little kid, I ALWAYS had a passion for action figures. From the first figures I owned, Star Wars’ X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker, to G.I. Joe’s Flash, and that THOUSANDS that’s followed, I had always loved the stories I could tell and the adventures I could set these guys on. My biggest following, as most 80′s kids went, was Star Wars and G.I. Joes. But others came and went, and the 1/18th scale just hit the mark with me, to be large enough to be able to move, and small enough to where we could have vehicles of all sizes to compliment the action figures.
Finally putting the hobby down (was it considered a hobby for kids?) in the early 90′s, I once again picked the hobby up with the re-release of Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures. Ever since, courtesy of companies trying to live off of better times and Ebay, I’ve thrown myself into the hobby of adult toy collecting, with G.I. Joe being the main source of my hobby.
But, I like to dabble. If I see interesting figures, or if a company makes action figures of properties that I enjoy, I usually buy a couple here and there, just for good measure. I’ve amassed a sizeable Indiana Jones collection, and only following a toy line for a few months, I came across quite a few Microman figures. With other toy lines getting in on the mix of 1:18th, I jumped at the chance to add Thundercats, Assassin’s Creed, and other various lines, as they truly interested me.
So… What am I doing with my hobby? I figured I could share with with the world. In the form of write-ups and photographs, I can give people a chance to check out action figures that they may be interested in, but not sure about, give them a chance to see a toy based on a property they enjoy, or just give people a reason to kill some time during the day looking at a grown man talk about toys.
I hope that you enjoy it here at cardedheroes. Take a look around, and come back, because you’ll never know what’ll pop up next!
